Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run Half Marathon - Gibsons (Canada/British Columbia)
The "Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run Half Marathon" starts at the Gibsons & Area Community Centre, the first five kilometers looping through rural neighbourhoods in Gibsons before heading towards Sechelt. The course follows Lower Road through the heart of Roberts Creek, passing many beach-front properties before coming back to the Sunshine Coast Highway, which goes through a provincial park before dropping down "Rat Portage Hill" into Wilson Creek for a flat final two miles, finishing at picturesque Davis Bay Beach. This is an Athletics Canada Certified course, run entirely on paved road, with a net elevation drop of 140 meters. It has large-scale descents and climbs and some long flat sections, rather than a lot of little ups and downs. There is a high level of community support from residents en route with cheering sections and impromptu music.
