Polar Night Halfmarathon - Tromsø (Norway)

The "Polar Night Halfmarathon" takes place in Tromsø in January. At this time of the winter the sun is completely absent from the sky, and the only visible sources of light are the moon and the occasional northern lights. This is a race where the runners face the challenge of icy snow and biting cold, as well as the race itself. The course starts off with a short lap in the city centre, before stretching out all the way to the airport area following footpaths. Here it turns, and goes back the same way. If the weather allows it, the course is marked with torchlights.
